Inmate Text App
If you have a family member who is currently imprisoned, the best option to stay in touch is via an inmate-texting app. These apps are made to be compliant with prison regulations and allow family members and friends to send and receive messages and photos, eCards, video calls, and money to their trust account in prison. There are additional federal inmate apps that offer additional services such as phone calls and video visits.
The JPay app, for example allows family and friends to pay money into an inmate's trust account, as well as photos, email videos, eCards, and eCards. It also lets them make personalized postcards that include personal photos. It's a more secure, more secure alternative to postal mail.
Another popular inmate text application is GettingOut which provides "simple and reliable communication" between inmates and their loved ones. The app is accessible at select correctional facilities and allows prisoners to upload images and text messages to family members and friends on their tablets. Inmates pay $0.25 per message and their text inmate loved ones pay cost of data to access them (but not explicit pictures). The GettingOut app allows you for uploading photos to Facebook or Foursquare or check-in on Foursquare and then add a YouTube video.
